Throughout his career, Matthew Summy has brought businesses, public agencies, and other entities together with a variety of stakeholders to spur dialog, spark ideas, and make change happen. His current work focuses advancing youth leadership development opportunities, encouraging volunteerism, and drawing on access to technology to increase community vitality.

Prior to Comcast, he served as the founding President & CEO of the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC), where he developed public-private partnerships to advance the Midwest’s reputation as a global center for innovation. Under his leadership, the ISTC helped attract more than $100 million for scientific research and commercialization activities in energy, life sciences, manufacturing and other sectors, established the Illinois Innovation Council, developed data.illinois.gov and launched the data-driven Illinois Innovation Index.

Summy is the founder of the Illinois Science and Energy Innovation Fund (dba Energy Foundry), a $22 million evergreen investment fund focused on promising energy services companies.

He earned an MPA from New York University and BA from the University of Chicago.
