Astronaut, Apollo 11
Retired astronaut and U.S. Air Force pilot Buzz Aldrin took a giant leap for mankind when he and Neil Armstrong became the first humans to walk on the moon during their 1969 Apollo 11 mission. A leading space exploration advocate, Aldrin received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal. He founded rocket design company Starcraft Boosters Inc. and the ShareSpace Foundation, a nonprofit that advances space education, exploration and affordable space flight experiences. Aldrin’s latest book, "Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration", outlines his plan to get us beyond the moon and on to Mars.
