Cedric Alexander, Ph.D., was named the Chief of Police for the DeKalb County Police Department in April 2013, where his primary responsibility was to oversee and direct all activities of the department and surrounding areas. In December 2013, he was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the DeKalb County Office of Public Safety. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of DeKalb County Police and Fire departments, Medical Examiner’s Office and Animal Services as well as 911 Communications. DeKalb County is the second largest county in the Metro-Atlanta area protecting, serving approximately 700,000 citizens.
