Dave Macklovitch (Dave 1)

Musical Artist, Chromeo; Creative Director, Fool's Gold
As Dave 1, Dave Macklovitch is half of the group Chromeo, known for their stylized stage show and lovingly crafted, 80s-influenced, analog synth-jams. Along with his childhood friend Patrick Gemayel (P-Thugg), he's kept the funk alive for more than a decade, growing from Montreal basements to main stages at festivals worldwide. Chromeo's fifth studio album, Head Over Heels, came out last June. Featuring twelve tracks of funk and R&B history colliding with modern pop songcraft, it’s a heartfelt love letter to the music that has influenced the duo since their teenage years. Macklovitch comes from an academic background: he was a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University and taught French and French Literature there as well as at Barnard College for more than five years. He currently oversees all the creative direction for Fool's Gold Records and for his brother A-Trak's projects.
