David Zipper

Partner, 1776 Seed Fund; Fellow, German Marshall Fund
David Zipper is a fellow at the German Marshall Fund, where he is building a new program around urban innovation in transatlantic cities. He is also a partner in the 1776 Seed Fund, where he leads investments into smart cities and mobility startups.Zipper oversaw economic development strategy under two mayors in Washington, DC, and served as executive director for NYC Business Solutions under New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He’s advised numerous cities across the US about innovation and startup engagement, most recently helping the city of Akron launch BOUNCE, an innovative coworking hub that strives to give researchers, recent grads, and entrepreneurs a cutting-edge space and revolutionary system in which to collaborate and grow.
