Desiree Rogers is the CEO of Johnson Publishing Company, the creator of EBONY and JET magazines as well as Fashion Fair Cosmetics. In this role, she has positioned the 70 year-old publishing company as a key player in the African-American media space. In 2008, President Obama named Rogers the first African American Social Secretary. Her career milestones also include spearheading social networking strategy for Allstate Corporation and serving as president of the two natural gas utilities of Peoples Energy in Chicago. Rogers is the Chair of Choose Chicago and has served on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards. A breast cancer survivor, she also serves on the cabinet of the Conquer Cancer Foundation.
