Ernest "Ernie" Banks, born January 31, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, is a former Major League Baseball shortstop and first baseman. He played his entire 19-year baseball career with the Chicago Cubs (1953?1971). Nicknamed Mr. Cub, he is widely considered one of the best players to play the game and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1977.
