Karen Tumulty is a national political correspondent for The Washington Post, where she received the Toner Prize for Excellence in Political Reporting in 2014. An accomplished journalist with a career spanning four decades, she began as a reporter for The San Antonio Light and soon moved on to the Los Angeles Times, where she covered a wide variety of beats including Congress, business and energy. Later, she moved to Time, where she worked as a congressional, White House and national correspondent. During her more than 15 years there, Tumulty wrote or co-wrote more than three dozen Time cover stories.
