Executive Chairman, Prelude Fertility; Founder & Chairman, Fon
Martin Varsavsky is an entrepreneur, angel investor, and CEO who has helmed numerous global businesses, including Fon, which he founded in 2005 and now serves as its chairman. Varsavsky created his first business at the age of 24 — the Urban Capital Corporation, one of the first real estate companies to develop loft apartments in New York’s Tribeca and Soho neighborhoods. He then went on to found a biotechnology company and a call-back service, as well as Jazztel, now Spain’s second-largest publicly traded telecom operator. After patenting the invention of a global federation of routers that share WiFi, he founded Fon, now the largest WiFi network in the world, and served as its CEO for nearly 10 years. Currently, he’s the executive chairman of Prelude Fertility, a fertility technology company. He’s also a visiting professor at Columbia University, where he has taught classes in entrepreneurship for the last five years.
