READI Chicago outreach worker, featured in FIRSTHAND: GUN VIOLENCE, a WTTW digital series
Reality Allah is an outreach worker at READI Chicago. After being incarcerated for more than two decades, Allah vowed to dedicate his life to reducing violence. At READI, he uses his more than 30 years of experience and knowledge to engage men at high risk of violence with transitional jobs and cognitive behavioral therapy and to connect them with other critical support services. The Mutual of America Foundation recognized him for his outreach work in 2018. He is featured in Firsthand: Gun Violence, a new WTTW initiative launching in November 2019.
