Sudhir Venkatesh supports Facebook’s Community Integrity research team, which gathers information on safety and integrity issues that impact the user experience globally. Prior to joining Facebook, he was the William B. Ransford Professor of Sociology and Global Thought at Columbia University. His research specialties include underground economies as they relate to crime in cities and the transformation of advertising in the digital age. His writing has appeared in or on The New York Times, Fast Company, This American Life, The American Prospect and The Washington Post and his books include Gang Leader for a Day and Off the Books.
