Executive Director, Between Friends
Yesenia Maldonado, L.C.S.W. is presently the Executive Director at Between Friends. Between Friends works to end domestic abuse throughout Chicago and the northern suburbs by addressing to the needs of individuals impacted by abuse an offering education to the community on ways to prevent domestic violence. Ms. Maldonado is responsible for the vision, strategy, and fundraising efforts at Between Friends. She brings over 19 years of experience in strategic management, supervision and leadership in the nonprofit sector. Prior to assuming the role of Executive Director Ms. Maldonado served as its Director of Programs and spearheaded the agency’s growth and data driven results. Ms. Maldonado was also the Clinical Director at Alternatives Inc. where she supervised school-based substance abuse counseling and prevention services. She received her Master of Social Work Degree at Jane Addams College of Social Work. Ms. Maldonado is a respected speaker on effective and innovative community-based interpersonal violence prevention and intervention strategies. She is the co-author of the REACH –Relationship Education A Choice for Hope interpersonal violence prevention curricula currently being implemented throughout the Chicago Public School (CPS) system.
