In this interview, producer Charles D. King of MACRO talks about his continuing fight to get Hollywood to recognize the power of black audiences and the universality of black stories. From black actors who aren’t invited on international press junkets to having to walk away from “the wrong capital” that wasn’t aligned with his mission, King candidly discusses the challenges of producing such films as Fences and Mudbound and how he’s changing the business by starting with the stories that want and need to be told.
